From Tech to Teaching

Although Georgia Tech does not offer any programs that provide teacher certification, a Tech education at the undergraduate or graduate level is excellent preparation for students planning on careers as K-12 educators. Graduates of Georgia Tech have many options for teacher certification open to them, including traditional and alternative routes. While some certification programs require full-time enrollment, others allow students to begin working as salaried teachers immediately after graduation while completing certification on a part-time basis.

This web site will help you understand the various paths to teacher certification, inform you of internships and volunteer opportunities to gain experience working with students in the K-12 system, and provide links to resources related to teaching.

For more information and advisement, Tech students and alumni may schedule an appointment with the Pre-Teaching Advisor, Beth Spencer, by visiting the online scheduler at www.advising.gatech.edu, sending an email to beth.spencer[at]provost.gatech.edu, or by calling 404.385.3665.
