Financing Teacher Certification
HOPE Teacher Scholarship Loan Program
Georgia residents who enroll in advanced degree-seeking programs (like master’s degrees that include requirements for initial certification) in “critical needs” fields are eligible to apply for the HOPE Teacher Scholarship Loan Program. Noyce Scholars Program
The Robert Noyce Scholarship Program is funded by the National Science Foundation to help increase the number of highly-qualified science teachers. Georgia Tech students interested in becoming Chemistry or Physics teachers may be eligible to apply to this Georgia Tech/Kennesaw State joint program which leads to full certification and a master’s degree through Kennesaw State’s MAT program in Chemistry or Physics education. Students are awarded a stipend of $10,000 during their final year of undergraduate education at Tech, and then enter the Kennesaw State 15-month MAT program, during which they are awarded an additional $10,000. Knowles Science Teaching Foundation Fellowship
The Knowles Science Teaching Foundation Fellowship (http://kstf.org/Default.aspx) provides five-year fellowships for students with undergraduate or advanced degrees in math, science, and engineering who want to become high school teachers. The fellowship supports students while they are in a recognized teacher certification program and in there first years of teaching, providing funding, networking, and professional development opportunities.
