Pre-Teaching Advising

The Pre-Teaching Advisor assists all Georgia Tech students and alumni who are interested in learning more about going into K-12 teaching. Appointments are available year-round, and can be scheduled through the Academic Advising web site under the “Pre-Professional Tracks” menu, or by emailing Beth Spencer at beth.spencer[at]provost.gatech.edu.

Advising services include the following: help with identifying appropriate teaching fields and majors; assistance in planning for graduate school and/or alternative certification; help in finding volunteer or internship opportunities; overviews of the certification process; assistance in making connections with school districts and/or graduate programs.

Students and staff are also encouraged to join the Teacher-Prep listserv. Announcements related to volunteering, mentoring, and tutoring in the schools, assisting with educational programs such as Science Fairs, internships, courses, and programs are sent to the Tech community via this list.
